What is PLA pellet ?

Polylactic acid (PLA) is a new type of bio-based and renewable biodegradable material made from starch derived from renewable plant resources (such as corn, cassava, etc.). Starch raw materials through saccharification to obtain glucose, and then from glucose and a certain strain fermentation to produce high purity lactic acid, and then through chemical synthesis method to synthesize a certain molecular weight of polylactic acid. It has good biodegradability, and can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature under specific conditions after use, and eventually generate carbon dioxide and water, which does not pollute the environment, which is very beneficial to the protection of the environment, and is recognized as an environmentally friendly material.

 

                                          What is the advantages  and uses of  PLA granules ?

polylactide, also known as polylactide, belongs to the polyester family. Polylactic acid is a polymer obtained by polymerization of lactic acid as the main raw material. The raw material source is sufficient and can be regenerated, mainly from corn and cassava. The production process of polylactic acid is pollution-free, and the product can be biodegradable and realize the circulation in nature, so it is an ideal green polymer material.

 

Polylactic acid has good thermal stability, processing temperature 170~230ºC, good solvent resistance, can be processed in a variety of ways, such as extrusion, spinning, biaxial stretching, injection blow molding. Products made of polylactic acid in addition to biodegradation, biocompatibility, gloss, transparency, feel and heat resistance, but also have a certain degree of bacterial resistance, flame retardant and UV resistance, so the use is very wide, can be used as packaging materials, fibers and nonwovens, etc. At present, it is mainly used in clothing (underwear, outerwear), industry (construction, agriculture, forestry, papermaking) and medical and health fields.

Extrusion molding of PLA raw material

 

 

The screw extrusion molding machine can be used to produce PLA sheet, film, fiber, pipe and foam sheet.

 

Before adding polylactic acid resin, ensure that the drying system and conveying system are clean. Due to the poor compatibility of polylactic acid resin with ordinary plastics and the processing temperature is much lower than that of PET.

 

When extruding on PET equipment, the processing temperature should be first raised to the PET processing temperature, and the low melting finger, non-thermal crosslinked polypropylene cleaning extruder is used to keep the temperature in a stable state. After a period of time, the temperature is adjusted to the processing temperature range of PLA.

 

PLA is easy to absorb tidal water, its equilibrium water content is higher than PET resin, and the hydrolysis rate is faster than PET. For sheet and film processing, the water content of PLA resin should be controlled below 0.05%.

The resin should be stored in a drafty, dry warehouse and away from fire and direct sunlight. It should not be piled up in the open air.
3.Transportation:
During transportation, the product should not be exposed to strong sunlight or rain and should not be transported together with sand, soil, scrap metal, coal or glass. Transportation together with toxic, corrosive and flammable substance is strictly prohibited.
