What is PA612 ?

First, what is long carbon chain nylon material?
Long chain nylon usually refers to the long chain segment of methylene length of more than 10 nylon, because long carbon chain nylon in the large molecular chain of methylene is longer, low amide group density, both nylon 6, nylon 66 and polyolefin properties. Thus long chain nylon has low water absorption, good dimensional stability of products, low density, low melting point, low temperature resistance, oil resistance, chemical resistance, good self-lubrication, good flexibility, impact resistance and other excellent properties. At present, long chain nylon products mainly include PA11, PA12, PA610, PA612, PA56, PA1010, PA1012 and PA1212.
II. Characteristics and Uses of Long Carbon Chain Nylon
1. Characteristics:
(1) Low water absorption
Nylon water absorption is mainly due to the nylon molecule in the polar amide group and water has a strong affinity. Long carbon chain nylon molecules in the amide group concentration is smaller than ordinary nylon, so its water absorption rate is low, such as PA12 and PA1012 water absorption rate is only 0.25% or so, and PA6 water absorption rate of 3-4%.
(2) Good dimensional stability
Due to the low water absorption of long carbon chain nylon, so in the wet environment can also maintain high toughness and hardness, its mechanical properties will not change much. The parts made of long carbon chain nylon have good dimensional stability and high precision, and can be used in applications requiring high precision and humid environment.
(3) Good toughness and flexibility
Long carbon chain nylon molecules have long methylene chains that can be freely stretched and rotated, so it has good toughness and softness, high resilience, high impact toughness and softness even at low temperatures, and it can be used to make soft products and cold-resistant parts.
(4) Excellent wear resistance
Long carbon chain nylon wear coefficient is small, low abrasion, for example, under the same conditions of nylon 11, nylon 12, nylon 6, nylon 66 abrasion of 9.9mg, 8.2mg, 35.0mg, 27.0mg. It will not produce serious abrasion and obvious abrasion debris when rubbing with smooth metal surfaces, so the long carbon chain nylon is particularly suitable for the production of abrasion-resistant parts.
(5) Excellent electrical properties
The long carbon chain structure of long carbon chain nylon gives it excellent electrical properties. Due to the low water absorption of long carbon chain nylon, it still has excellent dielectric properties in humid environments, a characteristic that short carbon chain nylon such as PA6 and PA66 do not have.

Forming conditions and precautions:
It can be molded by injection, extrusion and spray. Before processing, the resin should be dried at 80-100°C, and the processing temperature range is wider than nylon 66. The injection molding temperature is 230-260°C and the pressure is 68.6-137.2Mpa. The mold temperature is 60-90°C and the extrusion temperature is 225-270°.
