 The scientific name of PA12 is polydodecactam, also known as nylon 12. The basic raw material for its polymerization is butadiene, which can be relied on petrochemical industry. It's a semi-crystalline - crystalline thermoplastic material. Its properties are similar to PA11, but the crystal structure is different. PA12 is a good electrical insulator and, like other polyamides, will not be affected by moisture. It has good impact resistance mechanical and chemical stability. There are many improved varieties of PA12 in terms of plasticizing and reinforcing properties.


The difference between pa6/ pa66 with pa12?

Compared with PA6 and PA66, PA12 has lower melting point and density, and has very high moisture regain. PA12 has no resistance to strong oxidizing acids. The viscosity of PA12 depends mainly on humidity, temperature and storage time. It's very fluid. The shrinkage rate is between 0.5% and 2%, depending on the type of material, wall thickness and other process conditions.

Processin conditions:
 
 Drying treatment: The humidity should be ensured below 0.1% before processing. If the material is stored exposed to air, it is recommended to dry in 85C hot air for 4 to 5 hours. If the material is stored in a closed container, it can be used directly after 3 hours of temperature equilibrium.
 
Melting temperature :240~300ºC; Do not exceed 310 ° C for ordinary materials, and do not exceed 270 ° C for materials with flame retardant properties.
