Why PEEK granule is good for Medical industry such as dental ?
Firstly :The so-called PEEK material that makes the base of PEEK prostheses has been used in joint implants for many years and has proven to be a harmless and very durable material to the body. Due to its biocompatibility and the fact that it is similar in strength to bone, PEEK materials are well suited for use in implant-supported dentures.
1. PEEK has no palatine plate
If you've ever had a conventional prosthesis fitted in your mouth, then you know that the palatal plate is the hardest part to fit. First, the tongue is restricted, then you have to learn to speak all over again, and there is a permanent sense of foreign body that you need to get used to. PEEK prostheses are extra reinforced, so there is no need for a sheet covering the gums.
2. PEEK prosthesis is easy to clean
Anyone who has worn braces as a child or as an adult knows how annoying and nerve-wracking it can be to clean them. However, the PEEK prosthesis is very easy to clean. Bad breath and gingivitis thus belong to the past.
3. PEEK prosthesis is flexible
One of the biggest advantages of PEEK prosthesis is its flexibility. After insertion, the prosthesis is locked with two bolts, which can be done with the fingers. To remove it, you can loosen the two bolts using a dentist provided screwdriver or paper clip.
4. PEEK prosthesis is simple and clear
Because PEEK dentures are simple to remove, they are of course much easier to repair than traditional dentures. Maintenance is therefore very cheap and can be completed within half an hour.
And, in dentistry, PEEK is used to replace metal handles on dental syringes or sterile boxes for root canal files. PEEK is suitable for this because the polymer can withstand up to 3,000 autoclave sterilization cycles (typically at 130°C) and maintains excellent mechanical strength and hydrolytic stability in hot water, steam, solvents or chemicals.
Secondly :In the medical sector, PEEK offers innovative, cost-effective components with excellent wear, heat, electrical and chemical resistance. Its applications in the field of healthcare mainly include dental instruments, endoscopes, dialyzers, etc., mainly for orthopedics
