Polyethylene terephthalate (PBT) is used as a thermoplastic engineered polymer insulator in the electrical and electronics industry. It is a thermoplastic (semi-) crystalline polymer, and a type of polyester. PBT is solvent resistant, the shrinkage when forming is very small, the mechanical strength is high, the heat resistance of up to 150 ° C (or 200 ° C reinforced with glass fiber), and can be treated with flame retardants to make it non-combustible.

The Modified engineering plastic PBT compound

In order to make up for the deficiencies in the performance of pure PBT resin and broaden its application field, relevant personnel continue to modify it. At present, there are three types of PBT modified products in China: glass fiber reinforced, flame retardant modified, blended alloy modified.

First, enhancement modification
When glass fiber is added to PBT, the bond between glass fiber and PBT resin is good. After adding a certain amount of glass fiber to PBT resin, it can not only maintain the original advantages of chemical resistance and processability of PBT resin, but also greatly improve its mechanical properties and overcome the notch sensitivity of PBT resin.

Second, flame retardant modification
PBT is a crystalline aromatic polyester, if the flame retardant is not added, its flame retardant is UL94HB level, only after the addition of flame retardants, in order to reach UL94V0 level.

Third, blending alloy modification
The main purpose of blending PBT with other polymers is to improve the notched impact strength, improve the warping deformation caused by the forming process shrinkage, and improve the heat resistance.

 

Blending is widely used to modify it at home and abroad. The main polymers used for PBT blending modification are PC, PET, etc. This kind of product is mainly used in automobiles, electronics, power tools, the proportion of glass fiber is different, its application field is also different.

Processing conditions :
Drying time :
It should be dried for about 3 hours at a temperature of 110 ~ 120ºC.
Melting temperature 
The molding processing temperature is 250 ~ 270 ° C, and the mold temperature is controlled at 50 ~ 75 ° C.
