Polyethylene (PE) is the simplest resin molecule and one of the most produced resins. It is a widely used particle.
Polyethylene is odorless, non-toxic, feels like wax, has excellent electrical insulation and chemical stability, is resistant to corrosion by most acids, alkalis, salts and other media, is easy to mold and process, and has many varieties to meet different performance requirements.
According to the different macromolecular chain structures of polyethylene, we can divide it into three types: low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), and high-density polyethylene (HDPE).

Characteristics of PE molding processing:
(1) PE is a crystalline raw material with very low hygroscopicity, not exceeding 0.01%, so no drying treatment is required before processing.
(2) PE molecular chain is flexible, the inter-bond force is small, the melt viscosity is low, and the fluidity is excellent. Therefore, it does not require too high pressure to mold the product.
(3) PE has a wide range of shrinkage, large shrinkage value, and obvious directionality. The shrinkage of LDPE is about 1.22%, and the shrinkage of HDPE is about 1.5%. Therefore, it is easy to deform and warp. The mold cooling conditions have a great influence on the shrinkage rate. Therefore, the mold temperature should be controlled to keep the cooling uniform and stable.
(4) PE has a high crystallization ability. The temperature of the mold has a great influence on the crystallization condition of the plastic part. The higher the mold temperature, the slower the melt cooling, the higher the crystallinity of the plastic part, and the higher the strength.
(5) PE has a low melting point, but a large specific heat capacity. Therefore, it still needs to consume a lot of heat during plasticization. Therefore, the plasticizing device is required to have a large heating power to improve production efficiency.
(6) The non-Newtonian nature of PE melt is not obvious, the change of shear rate has little effect on viscosity, and the viscosity of PE melt is also less affected by temperature.
(7) The cooling speed of PE melt is slow, so it must be fully cooled, and the mold should have a good cooling system.
(8) The molding temperature of PE is relatively wide, generally between 200ºC and 250ºC. In the flowing state, a slight temperature fluctuation has no effect on extrusion and injection molding.
(9) PE has good thermal stability, generally no obvious decomposition phenomenon below 300ºC, and has little effect on quality. It has little effect on its quality.
